Cookies and Tracking

This page explains what this website stores on your device and what it loads from other companies. We have written it to describe what the site actually does.
The short version
Until you make a choice, this website sets no cookies and loads nothing from any other company. When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics. We run Google Analytics only if you choose Accept. If you choose Reject, no analytics cookie is set and nothing is sent to Google. We do not use advertising or remarketing tags, social media pixels or session recording.
What this website stores on your device
Your cookie choice
When you choose Accept or Reject, your browser remembers your answer by saving a small entry called systasis_cookie_consent in its local storage, with the value accepted or rejected. It is not a cookie and it is never sent to us or to anyone else. It exists only so that we do not ask you again on every page, and it stays until you clear your browser’s site data. Because it is needed to respect your choice, it does not itself require consent.
Google Analytics, only if you accept
If you choose Accept, we load Google Analytics, a service provided by Google. It sets two cookies on your device, called _ga and _ga_ followed by an identifier, which can last up to two years. They let us count visits and see, in aggregate, which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors are (at country or city level), what type of device they use and how they found the site. We use this to see what is working and to fix what is not.
Because your browser connects to Google’s servers when analytics runs, Google receives your IP address and basic browser information. Our privacy notice explains how this is handled, including transfers outside the UK.
What the site loads
Fonts
The site’s typeface is self-hosted: it is served as a file from this website’s own server, not fetched from Google or any other font provider. Loading a page does not disclose your IP address, or the address of the page you are viewing, to any third party. The only other company your browser contacts through this website is Google, and only if you have accepted analytics.
The WhatsApp button is an ordinary link. Nothing is loaded from WhatsApp or Meta until you click it, and after that their own privacy policy applies to the conversation.
Web server logs
Our web host keeps standard server logs of requests to the site, including IP address, timestamp, the page requested and basic browser information. These are not cookies and are not used to build a profile of you. They exist so the service can be kept running, and so that misuse and attacks can be investigated. Our privacy notice explains the basis for this.
The enquiry form on our contact page also keeps a short-lived anti-spam counter on the server, holding a one-way hash of your IP address for one hour. That is stored on the web server and not on your device, so it is not a cookie and needs no consent. The form itself sets nothing on your device.
Changing your choice
You can change your mind at any time with the button below, which shows the banner again. If you choose Reject, analytics stops from your next page view. Cookies already on your device stay there until they expire or you delete them in your browser settings, but we do not use them once you have rejected.
Controlling this yourself
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies and restrict what sites are allowed to load. Blocking analytics cookies will not stop you using this website, but we will no longer be able to see that your visit happened.
Changes to this page
If we add any other cookie or tracking technology to this website, we will update this page before it goes live and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
